A wonderful pair of Early 20th Century Davis & Son of London “The Angel Brand” ice skates.
Now diving deep into historical London, The Angel brand isn’t a nod towards the boot maker but something much more interesting.
The Angel, Islington (where Davis & Sons traded from) was a tight community and hub for specialized tradesmen such as boot makers and tailors of the highest standard.
What makes these so interesting is that they are Jodhpur /ankle boots which have been adapted into ice skates.
Back in the day it was common practice to adapt current footwear into ice skates for those that loved gliding through the ice.
Just a lovely unique decorative feature with some wonderful London brand history attached to them.
